The Lake Forest College men's hockey team, ranked 13th in the nation, will host #4 Adrian College this weekend in the final series of the regular season. Adrian has already captured at least a share of the 2014-15 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association title and the Foresters need a pair of wins to claim the other half.
The teams will face off Friday night at 7:00 and again at 3:00 Saturday afternoon in Lake Forest's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. Saturday is also Senior Day and the final regular season home game for Foresters Charlie Stein, Anthony Martinez, Mcauley Banning, Ben Certo, Bobby Barrett, Andrew Stein, Jordan Bruce, Luke Swardenski, and Jason McAloon.
Lake Forest saw its program record 15-game unbeaten streak finally come to an end Friday night at Milwaukee School of Engineering but rebounded with a 2-0 triumph over the Raiders Saturday night. The Foresters remain in second place in the league standings, two points ahead of #8 St. Norbert College.
Adrian posted 6-1 and 7-1 victories at Lawrence University last weekend and has a four-point lead over the Foresters in the NCHA standings. A tie or victory in ether game this weekend would give the Bulldogs the outright regular season championship and possession of the Peters Cup for the next year.
Statistically, Lake Forest owns the stingier defense and Adrian the higher-powered offense. The Foresters' penalty kill ranks first in the nation and the team is tied for seventh in goals allowed per game. The Bulldogs are second in the country in scoring offense and own the seventh-best power play. Lake Forest's goaltender is currently second in the nation in save percentage and three Adrian players rank among the top 15 in the country in points per contest.
