Lake Forest College men's golfer Jacob Krugman was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for his performance at Knox College's Prairie Fire Classic last weekend.
Krugman, a freshman, finished tied-for-fourth in the field of 100 golfers with a 36-hole score of 4-over-par 148. He completed the 6,551-yard, par-72 course in 73 shots in Friday's opening round, tying for the third-best score of the day. He was particularly successful on the front nine in round one, carding back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes and parring each of the other seven. A 38 on the back nine left him with a score of 73 on the day.
Day two's performance was the opposite of day one for Krugman, who went out in 6-over 43. He birdied each of the odd-numbered holes on the back nine, however, and needed just 32 shots to finish that half of the course.
Lake Forest placed fifth in the 18-team field with a two-day score of 616.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. Krugman also earned the award on March 21.
