Freshman Jacob Krugman finished in a tie for fourth place in the 124-player field as the Lake Forest College men's golf team placed 17th at the 24-team Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament over the weekend. The event was hosted by Carthage College at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.
Krugman's round of 69 on Friday was just one stroke off the program's 18-hole record and his two-day score of 146 is tied-for-second in team annals. The top three players at the event posted scores of 139, 144, and 145 and Krugman was tied with three others at 146.
Junior Davis DeKorte was next on the team and tied-for-31st overall after carding a 71 in the opening round and a 79 on Saturday. His 150 on the weekend matched the seventh-best two day score in program history.
Sophomores Parker Hill and Jordan Mandell were tied-for-91st overall at 159 and classmate Ricky Schmidt's 165 was good for 118th place.
The Foresters' score of 296 on Friday was a program record and they were tied for seventh in the team standings after the first round. A 318 on Saturday, however, dropped them to 17th place out of 24 teams. Carthage won the event with a score of 582, five strokes better than second-place Illinois Wesleyan University and Aurora University.
Lake Forest will compete in the Midwest Region Fall Classic at Eagle Ridge Resort in Galena, Illinois, next weekend. Play on Saturday and Sunday will begin at 8:00 a.m.
