The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the 2015-16 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2015-16 academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
Four Foresters were listed, including two-time honoree Chase Janer, who graduated from the College in May. He was joined by Ray Hunnicutt, Mike Rueffer, and Andrew Toth, who were juniors in 2015-16. Janer, a finance major, was also a four-time Academic All-Midwest Conference selection and saw action in 18 of the team's 23 games this season. Hunnicutt, an Academic All-MWC honree in 2014-15, played in 21 contests and is also majoring in finance. Rueffer joined Janer on the 2015-16 Academic All-MWC list and averaged 6.2 points while starting in 18 of his 23 appearances on the court. Toth started four games, missed three, and averaged 8.1 points per contest.
Lake Forest posted a 12-11 overall record in 2015-16 and advanced to the four-team MWC Tournament with a league mark of 10-8.
