The Forester men's basketball team was defeated 63-49 at home by Monmouth College on Saturday. Lake Forest will play at Carroll University next Tuesday night.
Senior guard Jeff Beck led the Foresters with eigfht points in the contest while junior guard Jordan Gipson and freshman guard Mason Zuniga were next with seven points apiece. Senior forward Chris Madson pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
Lake Forest shot just 30.9 percent from the floor, 6-for-21 from three-point range, and 9-for-16 from the free throw line. The home team was also out-rebounded 47-34.
The Fighting Scot's largest lead of the opening period was the 26-16 advantage they took into the locker room at halftime.
The Foresters never got closer than eight points behind in the second half and the Monmouth lead grew to as many as 23 before the home team closed out the contest with nine points in a row.
Both teams are now 4-10 overall this season. Monmouth is a game ahead of the Foresters in the Midwest Conference standings with a league mark of 3-6.
Lake Forest will travel to Carroll University next Tuesday night for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
