The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced Wednesday the members of the 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society and four Foresters were listed.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play and 1,432 players from 364 schools were recognized in the organization's 14th year.
Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include:
- Being a starter or a significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility (or a senior who has declared for the NFL Draft) at an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university;
- Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and
- Meeting all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
Two of the four Foresters honored this year are double majors. Wide receiver Ted Crane is studying business and Spanish while linebacker Johnny Laponte is pursuing a degree in physics and mathematics. Quarterback Bill Degnan is majoring in business and tight end Noah Recker in finance.
Lake Forest was 7-3 overall in 2019 and finished second in the Midwest Conference North Division standings with a league record of 4-1.
