Jordan McInerney Featured on AFCA All-American Team

Jordan McInerney Featured on AFCA All-American Team

The American Football Coaches Association released the 2019 AFCA Division III Coaches' All-America Teams on Wednesday and Lake Forest College's Jordan McInerney was a First Team selection.

The All-American selection adds to McInerney's list of awards this season. The senior defensive end was named First Team All-Midwest Conference North Division and voted the MWC Defensive Line MVP after leading the league and ranking among the top five in the nation with 14.5 sacks and 22.0 tackles for loss. During the season he appeared on the D3football.com Team of the Week three times and added a pair of Forester Athlete of the Week awards and an MWC Defensive Performer of the Week selection.

McInerney's sack total in 2019 ranks second in program history and his tackles for loss mark is third. He also set single-game school records with 5.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss at Lawrence University on November 2 and became the Foresters' all-time leader in tackles for loss during that contest. He completed his career with 54.5 tackles for loss and ranks tied-for-second in team annals with 29.0 sacks.

Lake Forest finished the season with an overall record of 7-3 and placed second in the MWC North standings at 4-1 in divisional play. McInerney led a defense that surrendered a league-low 16.2 points per contest and recorded the most sacks (25) and second-highest tackle-for-loss total (78) in the conference.

McInerney is the third Forester in the last four seasons to earn First Team All-American honors from the AFCA, joining kick returner Alex Pasiewicz in 2016 and running back Joey Valdivia in 2017.
