Lake Forest College football player Jordan McInerney was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday, capping off a long list of awards he received for his performance in Saturday night's 42-14 victory at Lawrence University.
McInerney led all players in the game with 13 tackles and set single-game school records with 5.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. The senior defensive end also surpassed 200 career tackles and became the program's all-time leader with 53.5 tackles for loss over the last four seasons. He is now leading the nation with 14.5 sacks while ranking second in the country with 21.0 tackles for loss this season.
Lake Forest held the Vikings to just 190 yards of total offense and McInerney accounted for exactly half of the visitors' stops behind the line of scrimmage.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. The honor comes on the heels of the Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week award McInerney received on Monday and Tuesday's appearance on the D3football.com Team of the Week. The award from the College is his second of the year.
