All three of Lake Forest's doubles teams claimed victories as the Foresters clinched a spot in the upcoming four-team Midwest Conference Tournament on Saturday with a 6-3 triumph over Knox College.
The #1 doubles team of sophomore Aimee Fadden and senior Nonie Carson won 9-7 while the #2 team of sophomore Lucy Cooper and sophomore Nikki Yeomans were victorious by an 8-6 score. Freshman Gracie Mullins and junior Kaitlyn Martin closed out the doubles sweep 8-5.
Cooper was the first to finish in singles and her 6-4, 6-0 victory at #4 gave the Foresters a 4-0 lead. Fadden was next and she won by the same score at the top spot in the lineup to clinch the Lake Forest win. Mullins 6-4, 6-1 victory at #2 made her the third Forester to win twice on the day.
Before the match, the Foresters recognized Carson on Senior Day.
The Midwest Conference Tournament starts on Friday, October 14, and Lake Forest's semifinal opponent will be the winner of tomorrow's match between St. Norbert College and Lawrence University. The doubles and singles tournaments will take place October 15-16.
