The Lake Forest College women's tennis team fell 9-0 to Carroll University before defeating Mount Mary College 8-1 at home on Saturday. Sophomore Aimee Fadden prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot in the singles lineup against Mount Mary.
The closest match in the loss to Carroll was at #2 singles where Forester senior Nonie Carson was defeated 6-2 in the first set before battling for a 7-6 (7-5) victory in the second. Carroll's Alyssa Larson took the third set super tiebreaker 10-3.
Carson and sophomore Nikki Yeomans blanked Mount Mary 8-0 at #2 doubles and, with just five players, the Blue Angels had to forfeit at #3.
Lake Forest finished off the day with a sweep of the singles matches. Freshman Kiersten Kolstad was the first to finish after a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at #3. Sophomore Kim Blanchard followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #5 and junior Kaitlyn Martin won 6-3, 6-1 at #4. Fadden routed Mount Mary's top player 6-1, 6-1 and Yeomans eeked out a 6-2, 4-6, (10-8) victory at #2.
The Foresters will be back in action tomorrow against Lawrence University. The match will begin at 11:00 a.m.
