The Lake Forest College women's soccer team defeated visiting Carthage College 2-1 in overtime on Sunday and raised its record on the season to 5-1-0. Junior goalkeeper Bri Schleibinger made 10 saves in the contest, including seven in the second half, to keep the Foresters in the game.
Carthage out-shot Lake Forest 11-3 in the first half but three saves by Schleibinger kept the game scoreless through 45 minutes.
The Lady Reds got on the scoreboard just 69 seconds into the second half but Forester freshman Megan O'Connor tied the score just six minutes later off a pass from sophomore Courtenay Raymond. O'Connor and Raymond lead Lake Forest with four goals and four assists, respectively.
The visitors' 10-2 advantage on shots in the second half was negated by Schleibinger's seven saves in the period.
The game winner was scored by freshman Michele Giurovici off a corner kick three minutes into the overtime period. Senior Isabel Brown recorded the assist on Giurovici's first career goal.
Carthage fell to 2-3-1 on the year.
Lake Forest will host another non-conference game against North Park University Wednesday afternoon at 4:30.
