The Lake Forest College men's soccer team began the 2015 season with a 5-1 victory over Moody Bible Institute at home on Wednesday. It was the Foresters' first game with Dan Andrews as their head coach.
Andrews, an assistant coach in the program last year, earned his first career head coaching victory against his alma mater. He graduated from Moody Bible in 2008 and his four-year playing career included two seasons as a team captain and a pair of All-American awards. He also helped lead the Archers to a national title as an assistant coach in 2011.
The Foresters' first goal of the season came at the 10:18 mark when sophomore defender Elyas Ingram crossed the ball to sophomore forward Nipun Chauhan, who headed it into the top-left corner of the goal from the top of the box.
Another cross by Ingram led to the second score at 18:36. It was deflected toward the goal by an Archer defender and tipped by the goalie before sophomore forward Finnian Bunta kicked it in for the score.
Less than two minutes passed before Forester senior forward Dylan Hartman netted an unassisted goal to make the score 3-0. It was the 20th goal of his career.
Lake Forest junior midfielder Ellis Rutili closed out the first half scoring at the 31:51 mark when he blasted in a pass from senior midfielder Themis Mourikes from 30 yards out.
A penalty kick goal by sophomore forward John Cappuccitti at 62:41 made the score 5-0.
The Archers finally got on the scoreboard in the 76th minute.
Forester freshman goalkeeper Elvin Husetovic earned the victory in his collegiate debut.
The loss dropped Moody Bible's record on the season to 0-2-0.
Lake Forest will be in action again Saturday when the Foresters host Augustana College at 4:30 p.m.
