The first goal of the season for senior defenseman Julia Unterseher tied the score in the third period but Lake Forest eventually fell 3-2 at Hamline University on Saturday.
After erasing three one-goal deficits and eventually defeating Bethel University 4-3 on Friday, the Foresters fell behind by a pair of scores on Saturday. The Pipers took the early lead less than two minutes into the contest and added another goal at the 3:08 mark of the second.
Despite being out-shot 35-10 in the game's first 40 minutes, Lake Forest trailed by just one after senior forward Lexi Morgan's power play goal at 13:48 in the second. Junior forward Makenzie Kamm earned an assist on Morgan's team-high-tying fourth score of the season and the 40th of her career.
Unterseher struck at the 8:25 mark of the third with assists credited to freshman forward Kelly McCullough and senior forward Maddie Davis. It was the first career point for McCullough.
Hamline regained the lead with 4:07 on the clock and hung on for the victory.
Forester senior goaltender Jacque Rogers, who moved into fourth place in program history in career saves on Friday, made a season-high 42 against the Pipers and raised her save percentage on the season to .918.
The loss dropped Lake Forest's record in 2019-20 to 5-6-1 while Hamline improved to 9-3-1.
The Foresters will be back on the road next weekend, taking on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Friday night at 7:00 and at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.
