Forester senior forward K.C. Stralka recorded her fourth double-double of the season but the Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 95-57 at Hope College on Saturday.
Stralka finished the game with a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds. She shot 6-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from the foul line and four of her boards came at the offensive end of the court. Stralka entered the game as the second-leading rebounder in the Midwest Conference at 10.1 boards per game and she is the only player in the league averaging a double-double.
Hope shot 44.4 percent from the floor while the Foresters connected on just 37.3 percent of their field goal attempts. The Flying Dutch also outscored the visitors 18-6 from the free throw line, out-rebounded Lake Forest 55-36, and committed nine fewer turnovers (15-24).
The Foresters trailed by as many as 11 points in the opening period and 25-18 when the buzzer sounded. Hope closed out the second quarter on a 21-5 run and led 52-31 at halftime. The home team outscored Lake Forest 17-15 in the third quarter and 26-11 in the fourth.
The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 3-5 while Hope remained perfect through nine games.
Lake Forest will resume conference play at home on Saturday, January 2, against Monmouth College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
