Lake Forest College's Helena Blumenau was voted Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the Foresters' dual meet victory over visiting Monmouth College on Saturday.
Blumenau, a junior, prevailed in the 800m-freestyle and 400m-freestyle by a large margin. Her 9:52.36 in the longer race was more than a minute-and-a-half faster than the runner-up's clocking and she won the 400 by more than 30 seconds with a time of 4:49.87.
After the conclusion of the meet, Blumenau swam a time trial by herself in the 200-backstroke and finished in 2:23.83, shattering the 25-year-old pool record by more than three seconds.
She was also named Women's Forester Athlete of the Week earlier today.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
