The Forester swimming and diving teams competed in a tri-meet against University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Lawrence University on Saturday. The women came out victorious against both opponents while the men's team won against Lawrence and lost to Whitewater.
Junior Helena Blumenau raced to four victories including the first event of the meet—the 200-medley relay. She teamed up with freshman Caprice Kalvelage, junior Violet Anderson, and senior Kerry Mullen to beat the field by more than a second. Blumenau then went on to win the 100-backstroke and the 500-freestyle. Her last win of the meet was the 200-freestyle relay, where she, Mullen, and Kalvelage were joined by senior Kylie Morgan.
Anderson also put up a pair of individual victories. Her times in 200-butterfly and 200-IM were fast enough put her on out front of the rest of the field.
Junior Sebastian Wagoner earned the first win of the meet for the Forester men when he raced to a first-place finish in the 500-freestyle. He also placed second in the 200-freestyle.
Freshman Tucker Potts also won an event when he touched the wall first in the 200-IM; he finished second in the 100-breaststroke earlier in the meet.
Wagoner and Potts were both on two second-place relays as well. For the 200-medley the combined with sophomore Riley Komp and junior Jack Curtis, and for the 200-freestyle relay, they were joined again by Komp and senior Alec Pittman.
The Foresters compete at home next when they host Illinois Institute of Technology at 1 PM. The meet will also be the teams' senior day and parents day.
