The Forester men's soccer team raised its record on the season
to 6-4-0 by shutting out visiting Rockford College 2-0 on Monday.
Lake Forest sophomore Garrett Donnelly scored his first career goal
and became the 11th different player on the team with at least one
score in 2010.
Freshman Mahir Mameledzija put the Foresters on the scoreboard
eight minutes and 59 seconds into the contest. Senior Jacob Heaps
assisted on Mameledzija's team-high seventh goal and third
game-winner of the year.
Senior goalkeeper Tom Biesiada started the game and held
Rockford scoreless for the first 20 minutes. Junior Melvin Flores
relieved him and finished off the shutout.
Donnelly's goal was scored two minutes and 53 seconds into the
second half with senior Will Press picking up the assist.
Lake Forest will play four more non-league games before resuming
Midwest Conference play on October 23. The next opponent on the
team's schedule is Elmhurst College, which will host the Foresters
Friday night at 7:00.
