The Forester men's soccer team took an early lead but faltered
late in a 2-1 overtime loss at North Central College Wednesday
evening. It was the season opener for both teams.
Lake Forest freshman Grady
McDonald needed just six minutes and 13 seconds to score his
first career goal. He was assisted by classmate Mahir Mameledzija.
The Foresters outshot the home team 12-4 in the first half but
were unable to extend their lead.
Both teams attempted seven shots in the second half and the
Cardinals, despite being short a player due to a red card
beginning at 77:19, finally tied the game with 10:41 to play
in regulation.
North Central then scored the game winner off a throw-in three
minutes and 20 seconds into overtime.
Lake Forest will look to even its overall record Saturday
afternoon at Knox College. The 3:30 game will be the Midwest
Conference opener for both teams.
