Three Foresters were in the 70s as the Lake Forest College men's golf team finished sixth out of 11 teams at the WLC (Wisconsin Lutheran College) Spring Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore Jack Dwyer was the team's top player and tied for fourth place out of 60 golfers overall with a round of 74. He had four birdies on the day, including two in a row on holes seven and eight. Classmate James Johnson was three strokes behind Dwyer and tied-for-13th in the field after posting par or better on 14 of 18 holes. Freshman Ryan Higgins matched Dwyer's four birdies and carded a 78 to tie for 18th place. All three players posted season-best scores on the 6,767-yard par-72 course at Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Freshman Marty Swab rounded out the team's scorers with an 83 in his collegiate debut and classmate Tyler Nielsen finished with an 84.
Lake Forest's team score of 312 was the squad's best of the young season but still 14 shots back of Concordia University Wisconsin and Edgewood College, who tied for first.
The Foresters will compete at the Judson Invite on Monday and the Carthage Spring Invitational on Tuesday.
