The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently released the 2014 NFCA Division III All-Region softball teams and Lake Forest College's Jenny McTague and Kayla Borgra were Second Team selections.
McTague, a freshman pitcher, finished the season with a 1.32 earned run average, the sixth-best mark in program history. With a 13-2 record, she set a new school record for winning percentage and her victory total ranks tied-for-fourth in team annals. McTague also posted the program's third-highest single-season strikeout total (94) and fifth-best strikeout rate (6.43 per seven innings). She also batted .278 with three home runs and 28 runs batted in this year.
Borgra, a junior outfielder, led the Foresters with a .385 batting average. Her 39 runs scored on the year rank second in team history and her 15 doubles, 17 walks, and 80 total bases matched the program's second, fifth, and sixth-highest single-season totals, respectively. Borgra also belted six home runs and drove in 29 on the year. She ranks among the top seven in school history in career batting average (.383), slugging percentage (.617), and on-base percentage (.468).
McTague and Borgra, who were also selected as the Midwest Conference Pitcher and Co-Positional Player of the Year, respectively, helped lead the 2014 Foresters to a 28-10 overall record. Lake Forest went 9-1 in MWC play, captured the seventh conference championship in program history, and advanced to the championship round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.
