Lake Forest College cross country runner Jonathan Stern was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday after finishing first at the Lamb-Kohawk Invitational last Saturday.
Stern completed the challenging 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes and 35.3 seconds to win by nearly 12 seconds over the runner-up from co-host Cornell College. It was the 10th-fastest time in team history and his fifth career entry on the list of the program's top 25 times. The Forester men won the meet with 46 points, 21 fewer the Coe College, which also co-hosted the meet.
Stern is the first Forester male to win an invitational since the team's home meet in 2004. He has been the team's top runner in every race this season after leading the squad twice as a freshman.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information.
