Lake Forest College volleyball player Maxie Mottlowitz was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the Foresters' season-ending four-set victory at Ripon College on Friday.
Mottlowitz, a senior middle blocker, matched her career-high with nine blocks on the night. That total also tied the fifth-highest output in a four-set match in program history. It was actually the second time this season and the third in her career that she recorded nine blocks in a single contest.
In addition to her defensive exploits on Friday, Mottlowitz also tied her career-high with 11 kills and had just two hitting errors in 19 attempts for a .474 hitting percentage. Her 16.0 points were one more than the career-high she set six days earlier against Monmouth College.
Mottlowitz finished the regular season leading the conference with 82 blocks overall and 35 in league contests.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of meda and information.
