The Forester women's hockey team dropped its final non-conference game of the regular season, a 7-1 loss at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Sunday. Junior forward Marissa Weber scored to give the visitors a 1-0 lead early in the second period but the sixth-ranked team in the nation netted seven goals in the game's final 26 minutes.
Weber's score was her 11th of the year and was assisted by sophomore forward Holly Lesperance and junior forward Morgan Pope at 4:28 in the second period.
Stevens Point tied the game at 14:05, scored what turned out to be the game-winner just 36 seconds later, and added a third goal with 2:11 on the clock.
The home team added four goals in the first 11 minutes of the third period, including a power play score.
The Pointers outshot the Foresters 25-11 through two periods and Lake Forest had a 7-6 edge in shots on goal in the third.
The loss drops the Foresters' record on the season to 12-5-3 while Stevens Point raised its mark to 16-4-2.
Lake Forest will play its final home game of the regular season against Adrian College next Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
