Lake Forest College women's golfer Chloe Morrissey was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday after winning twice and setting a school record in the last four days.
Morrissey posted the best round in the program's seven-year history at the Marian Invite on Saturday. Her even-par 72 was one shot better than the previous mark set by Allie Girard in September of 2016 and nine strokes ahead of anyone else in the 39-player field. Morrissey accounted for five of the tournament's 13 birdies on the day and helped lead the Foresters to a runner-up finish at the seven-team event.
Lake Forest was also second in a triangular hosted by Benedictine University on Sunday, finishing just two shots behind Aurora University. Morrissey was once again the top golfer in the field, carding a 78 (+7) to edge out teammate Amanda Lee by one stroke.
Competing for the third time in four days, the Foresters finished second at the Judson Invite on Tuesday. Morrissey tied for 10th out of 44 players in the field with an 87.
In six rounds this spring Morrissey owns a scoring average of 82.50, which would be the lowest in team history by nearly a full shot per round.
SLIAC Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors on Wednesdays.
