Thanks in large part to a school record 72 posted by Chloe Morrissey, the Lake Forest College women's golf team was the runner-up at the Marian Spring Invite on Saturday.
Morrissey's round included three birdies and three bogeys on the front nine and two of each on the back. The freshman was the top golfer at the 39-player event by nine strokes and broke the previous program record of 73 set by Allie Girard in September of 2016.
Lake Forest senior Amanda Lee tied for second in the field with an 81 that included a pair of birdies and eight pars. Freshman Makayla Sanchez finished in a tie for 17th place with a score of 96 and senior Makenzie Kamm was tied-for-31st at 111.
The Foresters' team score of 360 was just one shot behind first-place University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The tournament was played on the 5,802 yard course at Whispering Springs in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Lake Forest will be in action again on Sunday in a dual with host Benedictine University. The teams will face off at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, Illinois.
