The Lake Forest College women's basketball team defeated visiting Lawrence University 52-37 Tuesday evening on the Foresters' final game of the fall semester. Sophomore forward Brie Majkowski led the home team with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Majkowski shot 5-for-11 from the field and 4-for-6 from the foul line for her second-highest scoring output of the season. She is now second on the squad with 9.0 points per game so far this year.

Junior forward K.C. Stralka was the only other Forester to score in double figures. She finished with 10 points, six rebounds, and three assists in the contest. Senior guard Jenna Rice led Lake Forest with four assists and tied for team-high honors with junior guard Michelle Ricolcol with three steals.

The Foresters played two very even halves statistically, shooting 9-for-26 before halftime and 9-for-27 in the final 20 minutes. The home team made one three-pointer and committed six turnovers in each period.

After allowing Lawrence to shoot 40.9 percent from the field in the first half, Lake Forest led by just three at 25-22 at halftime. The Vikings made just four of 29 field goal attempts after intermission.

Lawrence scored the game's first five points and led 13-10 before a 9-2 run gave the Foresters the lead. The margin reached as many as five points before halftime but was just three at the break. A traditional three-point play by the Vikings early in the second half tied the score at 25 but Lake Forest outscored Lawrence 18-5 over the next 13 minutes. The lead remained in double figures the rest of the way.

The Foresters are now 3-5 overall this season and 3-3 in Midwest Conference play. Lawrence is still winless in six contest, including four league games.

The next two games on Lake Forest's schedule will be played in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Hoop N Surf Classic in two weekends. The Foresters will take on Willamette University at 4:00 p.m. (HST) on Saturday, December 20, and George Fox University the next day at 11:00 a.m. (HST).
