The Lake Forest College volleyball team hosted and defeated Mount Mary College 25-14, 25-11, 25-19 Tuesday night. Forester freshman Torie Pasiewicz had 10 digs and a match-high 24 assists in the contest.
Pasiewicz was just one dig shy of the 11 recorded by team leaders Molly McCloskey and Cori Cooper. The two juniors also led the Foresters with 15 and eight kills, respectively, and Cooper also had three aces. Kristen Braun, another junior, led the home team with four blocks.
Set one was tied at 11 when Forester head coach Jennifer Saylor called a timeout. Her team responded by winning five of the next six points and, after Mount Mary pulled back to within two at 16-14, the home team closed out the set on a 9-0 run.
After falling behind 2-0 in the second set, the Foresters won nine of 10 points and gradually pulled away to take a two-sets-to-none lead.
Set three was close and a 6-2 run by the Blue Angels trimmed the Forester lead in the set to 16-15. Lake Forest then outscored the visitors 9-4 the rest of the way to win the set and the match.
Lake Forest will travel to Carthage College Thursday night for a 7:00 match.
