The Forester volleyball team defeated Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday but dropped its other three matches on the weekend to place sixth at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic. Lake Forest junior Tia Rupnik was named to the all-tournament team for the second straight year.
The Foresters started the weekend with a 25-14, 25-19, 17-25, 25-14 loss to St. Norbert College on Friday. Junior Molly McCloskey led Lake Forest with 13 kills and she was second on the squad in digs with 16. Rupnik recorded a team-high 19 digs and four aces, sophomore Tori Drasler had 23 assists, and junior Kristen Braun finished with three blocks.
Rupnik tallied a team-high 25 digs in the Foresters' other Friday night match, a 25-21, 25-10, 25-17 loss to Oshkosh. Junior Cori Cooper pounded out 11 kills in the contest, Drasler registered 22 assists, and Braun had six blocks.
Lake Forest dropped the first set to Concordia 25-23 on Saturday before taking the second 25-20, third 25-22, and fourth 25-23. Cooper finished with 20 kills and 17 digs while McCloskey also registered a double-double with 16 kills and 11 digs. Rupnik and freshman Brooke Perkins led the defense with 25 and 21 digs, respectively, and Drasler had five blocks. Freshman Torie Pasiewicz led the team with 21 assists.
The Foresters' final match of the weekend was a 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15 loss to Lawrence University. McCloskey and Cooper led the team in kills again with 15 and 14, respectively, and Cooper added three aces. Drasler recorded 20 assists and Braun had a hand in seven blocks.
Rupnik's 76 digs and seven aces on the weekend landed her on the Pizza Hut Classic All-Tournament Tema for the second year in a row.
Lake Forest will host Milwaukee School of Engineering Tuesday night at 7:00.
