The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated 25-21, 25-13, 25-22 by visiting Wheaton College Tuesday night. Forester junior Molly McCloskey tied for the team lead with nine kills and 14 digs.
Junior Cori Cooper also had nine kills and classmate Tia Rupnik matched McCloskey's 14 digs.
Six of Cooper's kills and six of McCloskey's digs were recorded during the first set. The score was close throughout the set and tied at 20 before the visitors earned five of the next six points to pull ahead in the match.
The Foresters never led and win consecutive points just three times in the second set.
Lake Forest trailed by as many as five points twice in the third set. The home team scored four in a row to make the score 20-19 but was unable to complete the comeback.
The Foresters will compete in the Pizza Hut Classic at UW-Oshkosh this weekend. Lake Forest will take on St. Norbert College at 5:30 p.m. and the hosts at 7:30 on Friday. Saturday's first opponent is Concordia University Wisconsin at 11:00 a.m. and the Foresters' 1:00 opponent will depend on the results of each participating team's first three contests at the event.
