The Lake Forest College volleyball team defeated host North Central College 25-22,26-24,25-22 and Benedictine University 25-17,25-21,25-22 Saturday afternoon in the annual Red & Black Triangular. Forester junior Cori Cooper pounded out 37 kills on the day.
Cooper led Lake Forest with 18 kills and tied for second on the squad with 15 digs against North Central. Fellow junior Molly McCloskey also had a double-double with 15 kills and a team-high 17 digs. Junior Tia Rupnik finished with 15 digs. Sophomore Tori Drasler led the Foresters with 20 assists, one more than freshman Torie Pasiewicz, and Drasler also matched junior Kristen Braun's team-high three blocks.
Cooper finished the Benedictine match with 19 kills and McCloskey had a dozen. Drasler and Pasiewicz tallied 15 and 14 assists, respectively, and Rupnik led the team with 21 digs and a pair of aces. Freshman Brooke Perkins also chipped in with 12 digs.
It was the Foresters' first sweep of North Central and Benedictine since hosting the annual event in 2004.
Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play on the road next weekend. The Foresters will be hosted by Illinois College Friday night at 7:00 and Monmouth College at 1:00 the following afternoon.
