Freshman Julie Lord defeated the #8 seed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships and all five of Lake Forest's players won at least once in that event or the Oberlin Open over the weekend.
Lord won the first set 6-3 and the second 6-0 over the top player from Kalamazoo College, the #8 seed in the tournament. She was then defeated 6-4, 6-1 in the round of 32.
Both of the Foresters' doubles teams at the event fell in their opening round match but won at least once in the consolation bracket. Lord and sophomore Leeza Bodnar posted a pair of 8-1 victories before falling by the same score in the quarterfinals. Junior Allison Watts and freshman Tyranny Miller doubled up their opponents 8-4 before falling in the round of 16.
Three Lake Forest players combined to win four of six singles matches at the Oberlin Open. Bodnar prevailed 6-2 in both sets on Friday before posting a 6-4, 6-1 victory on Saturday. Watts came out on top of a 7-6, 6-0 decision in her first match but fell 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 in her second. Freshman Grace Gould also went 1-1, taking Friday's contest 6-2, 6-4 before suffering a 7-6, 6-3 defeat on Saturday.
The Foresters will resume their schedule with a pair of non-Midwest Conference dual matches next Sunday. Lake Forest will host Illinois Institute of Technology at 9:00 in the morning and Aurora University at 1:00 p.m.
