Junior Allison Watts and freshman Tyranny Miller were two of five Foresters to win in singles and doubles play as the Lake Forest College women's tennis team prevailed 8-1 over visiting St. Norbert College at home on Sunday.
Watts and Miller finished off doubles play with an 8-3 victory at #2. Freshman Julie Lord and sophomore Leeza Bodnar did not drop a game for the third time this weekend at #1 and the #3 team of freshman Grace Gould and sophomore Sara Grosse doubled up their opponents 8-4.
Lord was the first Forester to finish in singles play and she won 6-0, 6-4 at the top spot in the lineup. Watts clinched the home team's victory with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at #2 and Bodnar took both sets 6-3 at #3. Miller won the first set 6-3 and the second 6-0 at #4 and Gould prevailed 6-3, 6-1 at #5. St. Norbert won the point at #6 singles.
The Foresters, who also defeated Midwest Conference foes Lawrence University 8-1 and Ripon College 9-0 on Saturday, improved to 9-1 overall this season and 5-1 in league play. St. Norbert fell to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
Lake Forest will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament in Oberlin, Ohio, next weekend.
