On Wednesday the NCAA released the names of the swimmers who will compete in the Division III Championship Meet March 18-21. Among them are Lake Forest College sophomore Sam Freedberg and freshman Victoria Karker.
Freedberg, who competed in last year's national championships, ranks 10th in the nation in the 400-IM with his Midwest Conference record time of 3:57.43. His other conference record of 1:50.83 in the 200-butterfly has him seeded 21st at the national meet and his school record mark of 1:51.64 in the 200-IM is 25th.
Karker's best event is the 200-freestyle, where she is seeded 10th with a league record time of 1:51.38. She will also compete in the 200-backstroke and 500-freestyle.
Freedberg and Karker swept the Men's and Women's Swimmer of the Year awards at the 2015 MWC Championships February 13-15.
Lake Forest could be sending as many as five individuals to the meet. Seniors Christina and Sarah Pekar and freshman Matt Demirs will complete at the University of Chicago this weekend in one of four NCAA Regional Diving Competitions.
The 2015 NCAA Division III Championship Meet will take place at the ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas, and will be hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Shenandoah.
