The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams swept visiting Lawrence University Saturday afternoon, winning 151-70 on the women's side and 121-42 on the men's. Junior Kristofer Korth finished off the day with a pool record time of 2:24.24 during a time trial in the 200m-breaststroke.
The meet also began with a pool record by the Forester women's 200m-medley relay team. Senior Kelsie Miller, sophomore Lauren Dalecky, and freshmen Simona Kurta and Victoria Karker won with a time of 2:05.75, slightly better than the previous mark of 2:06.38 set by the team earlier this season. In the men's race Lake Forest freshman Jakoby McClellan and sophomores Josh Georgeff, Sam Freedberg, and Travis Johnson also finished first in 1:49.68.
The next Forester victory was turned in by senior Brock Moné with a time of 9:14.38 in the men's 800m-freestyle.
The home team swept the rest of the events, starting with the 200m-freestyle. Karker touched the wall first in the women's race in 2:10.28 and senior Mitchell Reiner was the top make finisher with a time of 2:03.17.
Sophomore Emily Bowens was the fastest swimmer in the women's 50m-freestyle, finishing in just 28.90 seconds. Freshman James Winkler won the men's race in 25.67 seconds.
Kurta posted the first of her two individual victories on the day in the 200m-IM, completing the race in 2:31.80. Freshman Landon Longfield prevailed for the Forester men with a time of 2:24.63.
The first round of diving included a victory in the women's 1-meter event by senior Sarah Peker with a score of 261.98, just three-tenths of a point better than her twin sister Christina. Freshman Matt Demirs won the men's competition with 211.12 points.
Karker won again in the 100m-butterfly in 1:07.87 and sophomore Drake Nickell finished off the sweep of the event with a victorious time of 1:01.77 in the men's race.
Kurta notched her other victory in the 100m-freestyle with a time of 1:02.02 and sophomore Christopher Martinez won the men's race in 56.80 seconds.
Miller and Longfield finished first in the 100m-backstroke with times of 1:08.27 and 1:06.43 respectively.
Sophomore Lily McCarthy edged out the runner-up from Lawrence by just 0.14 seconds in the 400m-freestyle. She completed the race in 4:44.07. Junior Armel Cazedepats touched the wall first in the men's race in 4:28.66.
Sarah Pekar fnished off a sweep of the women's diving events with a career-best score of 290.25 off the 3-meter board. Demirs earned 214.75 points to win on the men's side.
The final individual event of the day was the 100-breaststroke, which Dalecky and freshman Josaiah Clark won in 1:18.26 and 1:09.89, respectively.
Bowens, freshmen Evelyn Johnson and Maggie Kroeger, and Dalecky were victorious with a time of 1:56.55 in the 200m-freestyle relay. Sophomore Orion Huey, Freedberg, freshman George Hu, and Reiner edged out their teammates by less than a second to win the men's race in 1:39.96.
Korth's 200m-breaststroke time trial was the final event of the day and his time was nearly five seconds faster than the previous pool record.
Both Lake Forest teams are now 2-3 in this season and will close out the dual meet portion of their schedule next Saturday at Olivet Nazarene University. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
