The Forester swimmers were defeated by Truman State University and host Lewis University, a pair of NCAA Division II institutions, on Saturday. Sophomore Sam Freedberg turned in Lake Forest's only victory of the afternoon in the 200-IM.
Freedberg finished in 1:58.94, nearly two seconds ahead of the runner-up from Lewis.
Freshman Jakobi McClellan had the Foresters' lone runner-up finish in the 100-backstroke. His time of 54.26 seconds was ahead of all the competitors from Truman State.
Junior Kristofer Korth was third in the 200-freestyle in 1:46.15 and freshman Sam Miseyka placed fourth overall but ahead of everyone from Truman State, in the 50-freestyle (21.99 seconds).
Freshman Victoria Karker posted a third-place finish in the 100-freestyle and her time of 55.38 seconds was third overall and better than anyone from Lewis. Karker was also fourth in the 200-freestyle in 1:58.49. Classmate Simona Kurta also turned in a third-place finish in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:01.21.
Lake Forest will compete at home for the first time this season next Sunday against Augustana College. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
