Lake Forest College swimmer was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for his performance at the University of Chicago's Phoenix Fall Classic last weekend.
Freedberg, a sophomore, placed third at the meet in both individual medleys. He finished Saturday's 200-IM in 1:58.33, the fastest time in that event by a swimmer in the league this season and a mark that ranks him 40th in the nation. He also posted the conference's fastest time of the year in the 400-IM on Sunday, touching the wall in 4:20.90.
The Foresters also recorded the fastest times in the MWC this season in a pair of relays. Freedberg anchored the runner-up 800-freestyle relay on Saturday that finished in 7:12.37. He also swam fourth on the 400-freestyle relay, which placed sixth in 3:17.52.
In addition to swimming the best times in the conference this year in the individual medley events, Freedberg also owns the league's top times in the 100- and 200-butterfly.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and sports information.
