Lake Forest College softball player Jordan Ratliff (Petersburg,
Mich./Summerfield) was named Forester Athlete of the Week Thursday
(April 22) for her performance in a pair of doubleheader sweeps the
previous weekend (April 17-18).
Ratliff, a freshman pitcher, started the weekend by allowing just
one base hit while pitching five scoreless innings in a 7-1 victory
at Illinois College. She struck out two batters and walked one in
the contest. Ratliff also came on in relief in game two of the
doubleheader, a 5-2 triumph. She held the Lady Blues without a run
on three base hits over three innings to pick up her second save of
the season. She added a pair of strikeouts without a walk to her
stats for the season.
The next day Ratliff pitched the opener of another doubleheader at
Monmouth College. The Foresters won 6-3 and she tossed all seven
innings, allowing just one earned run on seven hits while striking
out five batters and walking none.
Ratliff is now 9-4 with two saves and a 1.57 earned run average on
the season. She has recorded 64 strikeouts and issued just 22 walks
in 102.2 innings of work.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic
Department on Thursdays. Ratliff was also named Midwest Conference
Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year on Monday.
