The Forester men's tennis team was defeated 6-3 at Monmouth College on Sunday in the regular season finale for both teams. Junior John Snider and freshman Dan Pivonka accounted for all three of Lake Forest's points.
Pivonka and Snider defeated the Fighting Scots' top doubles team 8-3 but the Foresters fell at both of the other spots in the doubles lineup.
After Monmouth finished off a victory at #4 singles, Pivonka's 6-3, 6-3 triumph at #1 pulled the visitors back to within a point. The Scots, however, prevailed at #5 and #3 to earn the team win and added another point at #6. Snider closed out the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at #2.
The loss drops the Foresters' overall record to 13-11 and Midwest Conference mark to 7-2. Monmouth is now 15-9 overall and 8-1 in the league. The same two teams will face off again in the semifinals of next Friday's MWC Tournament.
