The Lake Forest College men's tennis team is now 11-10 overall this season and 5-1 in Midwest Conference play after winning 9-0 at Ripon College on Sunday. It finished off a perfect 3-0 weekend in conference play for the Foresters.
Freshman Dan Pivonka was one of three Foresters to sweep his singles and doubles matches over the weekend. He and junior John Snider prevailed 8-2 at #1 doubles to give the visitors a 3-0 lead. Lake Forest junior Mike Riley and sophomore Dragan Trivanovic had shut out their opponents 8-0 at #2 while junior Jordan Stoler and senior Derek Schaltz posted an 8-3 victory at #3.
After winning each game in his doubles match, Trivanovic did the same in singles at #5, blanking his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Riley then finished off a 6-0, 6-2 victory at #3 to secure the match for the Foresters. Freshman Nick Rehn won 6-1, 6-0 at #4 and Stoler prevailed 6-0, 6-1 at #6. The most competitive match of the afternoon was at the top spot in the lineup, where Pivonka won the first set 6-1 but lost by the same score in the second. Pivonka then came out on top of a 10-5 decision in the third set super-tiebreaker. Snider closed out the contest with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #2.
Lake Forest will look to remain above .500 in the southern part of the conference next weekend. The Foresters will play at Knox College at 9:00 Saturday morning and at 4:00 in the afternoon at Illinois College. They will then close out the regular season at Monmouth College Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
