The Forester men's tennis team was defeated 8-1 by Wabash College and 6-3 by host Elmhurst College on Sunday. Lake Forest freshman Dan Pivonka recorded victories at the top spot in the doubles and singles lineups against Elmhurst, the 13th-ranked team in the region.
Pivonka and sophomore Ellis Lora-Arceo came out on top of an 8-6 decision against Elmhurst in doubles play, but the Bluejays preaviled 8-5 at #2 and 8-6 at #3.
The home team also won at each of the middle four positions in the singles lineup. Freshman Nich Rehm battled for a 6-4, 1-6, (11-9) triumph at #6 and Pivonka closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #1.
The Foresters' only win against Wabash came at #3 doubles, where juniors Mike Riley and John Snider edged out their opponents 8-6.
The losses dropped Lake Forest to 1-4 on the season while Wabash improved to 5-2 and Elmhurst to 1-2.
The Foresters will play at home for the first time in 2015 next Saturday when they host North Central College at 3:00 p.m. and Milwaukee School of Engineering at 6:00. The matches will be played indoors at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
