Lake Forest College men's hockey player Jack Lewis was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Year and fellow Forester Connor Duncan was named to the league's All-Freshman Team on Tuesday.
Lewis, a senior forward, leads the NCHA with 17 goals and eight power play scores this season. He is also tied for second place in the league with 32 points and ninth with 15 assists. The team captain has recorded at least one point in 20 of 25 games this year, including nine in a row from November 12 to January 6. His point total this season is the highest by a Forester since 2005-06 and he now has 93 in his career on 47 goals and 46 assists. It was the first career All-NCHA selection for Lewis, who is one of just two players in program history to be named NCHA Player of the Year, joining 2015 honoree Leo Podolsky.
Duncan, a defenseman, is the first Lake Forest player since Lewis in 2013-14 to be named to the NCHA All-Freshman Team. His 18 points on the season are tied for the fourth-most among defensemen and fifth among freshmen in the conference. He has recorded 15 assists so far this year, tied with Lewis and others for ninth in the league, and just one player in the NCHA has more than his 14 power play points.
Lake Forest finished the regular season 16-9-0 overall and 12-8-0 in conference play. The Foresters qualified for the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs and will play a quarterfinal game at Marian University Wednesday night at 7:00.
