Lake Forest College football players Jagan Cleary and Sean Chapman were named Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Performers of the Week, respectively, on Monday. They helped lead the Foresters to a 41-17 victory over visiting Cornell College on Saturday.
Cleary, a freshman quarterback, tied a school record with five touchdown passes in the contest. He connected on 13 of 22 passes for 263 yards and did not throw an interception on the day. Seven of his completions went for at least 15 yards, including scoring strikes of 39, 29, and 43. Cleary's 234.51 quarterback efficiency rating is the highest single-game mark in program history.
Chapman, a senior linebacker, tied for the team lead with nine tackles, including eight solos. He became the first Forester since 2004 with three sacks in a game and they totaled 24 yards of lost yardage. He also added a pass breakup. He is now tied-for-fourth on the team with 39 tackles this season.
MWC performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information.
