Kevin Davis and Luke Butts Named First Team All-MWC, Four Foresters Earn Second Team Honors

The Midwest Conference released its end-of-season awards for football on Wednesday and six Lake Forest players were listed, including First Team selections Kevin Davis and Luke Butts.

Davis, a senior wide receiver, currently ranks second in the conference with 131.7 receiving yards per game and third with eight catches per contest. His 12 total touchdowns on the year are tied-for-seventh in the league. With a game yet to finish, Davis has already set a team record with 1,185 receiving yards on the year, his 72 receptions are just five shy of the most in program history, and his 10 touchdown receptions trail the school record by two.

Butts, a senior safety, leads Lake Forest with 68 tackles and ranks 10th in the MWC with 7.6 stops per game. He also has four tackles for loss, two interceptions, and four pass breakups. His 317 career tackles rank fourth in program history.

Junior quarterback Pete Scaffidi, junior tailback Al Mitchell, and senior guard Gilbert Munoz earned Second Team All-MWC honors on the offensive side of the ball and senior defensive lineman Casey Flynn received the honor on defense. Scaffidi has already set single-season team records with 223 completions, 2,702 passing yards, and 28 touchdown passes. His 149.5 pass efficiency rating and 300.2 passing yards per game rank second in the conference. Mitchell is currently fifth in the league with 89.7 rushing yards per contest. He leads the Foresters with 807 yards on the ground and six rushing touchdowns. Munoz has anchored an offensive line that has allowed just eight sacks in nine games, the second-best rate in the conference. Flynn leads the Lake Forest defensive linemen with 29 tackls, five of which have occurred behind the line of scrimmage.

The Foresters are currently 3-6 and will finish their season at Concordia University Chicago Saturday at 11:30 a.m. It will be a continuiation of a game that began on September 3 but was postponed in the second quarter due to lightning.
