Lake Forest College football player John Preston was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Monday after recording a game-high 18 tackles in a 31-27 victory at Knox College on Saturday.
Preston, a freshman, made 10 solo tackles and assisted on eight other stops in the game. He also registered 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss. He made at least one tackle on eight of Knox's 11 possessions on the day.
Preston moved from fullback to linebacker during the season and was making his first career start. He had just 15 tackles on the year prior to Saturday's contest.
