The Lake Forest College tennis team won 9-0 at Ripon College on Saturday and is now 2-0 on the season. Sophomore Melika Celebic played her first singles match of the year and came away with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at the top spot in the lineup.
The Foresters began the match by sweeping all three doubles positions. Celebic teamed with junior Nonie Carson for an 8-2 victory at #1, freshman Aimee Fadden and junior Deepika Ramachandran prevailed 8-5 at #2, and the Lake Forest #3 tandem of freshman Nicole Stroner and senior Natalie Atroshenko won 8-1.
In addition to Celebic's triumph at #1, Carson and Fadden did not lose a game (6-0, 6-0) at #2 and #3 singles, respectively. Ramachandran won 7-5, 6-1 at #4 and Atroshenko posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #5. Freshman Nicole Stroner played her first collegiate singles match at #6 and knocked off her opponent 6-2, 6-3.
Lake Forest will be back in action tomorrow when the team travels to Lawrence University for a 9:30 a.m. match and Alverno College for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
