The Forester men's and women's swimming and diving teams broke their year-long competition drought with a meet at Lawrence on Saturday.
A handful of Foresters posted victories in each event they swam. Sophomore Helena Blumenau started off her win-streak with a first-place finish in the 200 IM, followed by triumphs in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Her day concluded when she combined with junior Kylie Morgan and freshmen Ella Burns and Morgan Blank to win the 400 freestyle relay.
Prevailing in all of her individual events was freshman Ally McCarthy, who touched first in the 500 and 1000 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Sophomore Violet Anderson also won a pair of individual events, the 100 and 200 butterfly, and she was part of the victorious 200 freestyle relay, which included Blank, fellow sophomore Jhanati Rajesh, and senior Fallon Longfield.
Freshman Ollie Land and senior Marcus Carter-Buckman went 4-for-4 in their events as well. Land placed first in the 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke, and 200 breaststroke. He added a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, where he was joined by fellow freshmen Brennan Dompe and Matthew Carey and senior Thomas Anderson. Carter-Buckman raced to wins in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle. He also won the 200 medley relay with Anderson and sophomores Jackson Sawyer and Justin Fugiel. His final victory of the night came when he teamed up to race the 400 freestyle relay with Dompe, freshman Riley Komp, and junior Graeme Witte.
Junior Aaron Helms won all of his individual races: the 500 freestyle, 400 individual medley, and 200 butterfly.
Although the meet was not scored, the Foresters won 30 of 36 events.
Lake Forest will travel Ripon College on March 27 for their second and final competition of the season.
