The Forester men's golf team finished play at the 2014 NCAA Division III Midwest Region Classic on Tuesday. Lake Forest placed 23rd at the two-day event and freshman Davis Dekorte posted the team's best round of the year.
After carding an 86 on Monday, Dekorte improved 10 strokes with a 76 on day two of the tournament. He finished in a tie for 60th place out of 140 competitors.
Senior Charlie Stein was next on the Foresters with a final score of 172. His 84 on Tuesday was a four-shot improvement from round one. Freshman Christopher Rockers, who matched Dekorte with an 86 on Monday, had an 88 on Tuesday. Senior Andrew Stein finished both rounds with an 88 while junior David Grannis' 85 on day two was nine strokes better than his Monday performance.
Lake Forest posted a four-man score of 348 on Monday and 333 on Tuesday. Central College, which had the top three indivudal players, won the event by 18 strokes with a two-day total of 584, just eight shots over par.
The Foresters will close out their fall semester schedule on Sunday and Monday at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
