Playing in the program's first tournament since 1970 on Friday, the Lake Forest College men's golf team is in 14th place after day one of Carthage College's Tim Kopka Memorial Invitational. The two-day event will conclude on Saturday.
Seniors Mcauley Banning and David Grannis lead the Foresters and are tied for 49th out of 90 golfers with a first round score of 82. Fellow senior Charlie Stein is next on the squad with an 84 and freshman Christopher Rockers needed 85 strokes to complete the course on day one.
The tournament is being held at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.
Carthage leads the event with a first day score of 299.
Saturday's second round is scheduled to begin at 1:00 in the afternoon.
