The Forester men's golf team improved 38 shots from Sunday's performance and placed 13th at Wisconsin Lutheran College's WLC Fall Invitational on Monday. Senior Luke Swardenski carded a 77 in round two, a dozen shots better than his score on Sunday.
Starting on the seventh hole, Swardenski began Monday's round with six straight pars before playing the next five holes in +4. After posting his only birdie of the tournament on 18, he recorded a pair of bogies and finished the round with four consecutive pars. His score of 166 was tied-for-53rd in the 81-player field.
All six Foresters had at least one birdie on Monday and senior Andrew Stein recorded two on his way to a 79. He finished with a two-day total of 172. Freshman Benjamin Crosby and sophomore Matt Weidner each finished Monday's round with a score of 81. Crosby owned the team's best score on Friday with an 87 and he finished tied-for-58th overall at 168. Weidner's two-day total was 177, one shot better than freshman Jeremy Edelson and two ahead of senior Davis Grannis.
Lake Forest was 15th after Sunday's competition and moved up to 13th with a score of 686 after Monday's play. Carthage College won the event at 592, just 16 shots over par.
The Foresters' next tournament will be the Midwest Region Fall Classic at Trappers Run Golf Course in Wisconsin Dells. The two-day event will begin on Monday, September 29.
