Lake Forest College men's basketball player Travis Clark was named Midwest Conference Player of the Week on Monday after recording a pair of double-doubles and surpassing 1,000 career points over the weekend.
Clark scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the Foresters' 49-45 loss to visiting Lawrence University on Friday. He also dished out three assists and blocked two shots in the contest.
Lake Forest defeated Carroll University 78-66 at home on Saturday. Clark tied for game-high honors with 22 points and led all players in the contest with a career-high-tying 14 rebounds. He shot 10-for-13 from the field and also chipped in with two more blocked shots. The first of his two free throws with 30.8 seconds remaining in the contest was the 1,000th point of his career, making him the 19th player in team history to reach the milestone and just the seventh to do so prior to his senior season.
Clark leads the 2010-11 Foresters with 15 points, nine rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocked shots per game. He is also second on the squad with 2.7 assists per contest. He is the only player to rank among the top 15 in the conference in all five categories and is listed no lower than 10th in any of them.
MWC Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. He also earned the award once last year.
